My Dear Parishioners,
I love the season of Lent because it calls our focus back to our relationship with Jesus. We take these next weeks to accompany our Lord into the desert and strive to prepare for the joys of Easter. We can take this opportunity to grow in our faith and spirituality by the sacrifices we make or the things we add into our life which will help us train our will to conform to Christ’s will.
This is a time when we can take advantage of the opportunities to grow in faith by attending our Friday Stations of the Cross or attending our Lenten talks. I also encourage you to consider spending time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, which is available Mondays from 12:00pm to 6:45pm in the Church. The fruits of silent prayer before our Lord are amazing.
Our former Pope, Benedict XVI once said, “May Mary, our guide on our Lenten journey, lead us to ever deeper knowledge of the dead and Risen Christ, help us in the spiritual combat against sin, and sustain us as we pray with conviction: Convert us to you, O God our salvation.” Let us take this time of preparation seriously and strive to welcome in the celebration of Easter with our hearts renewed by our Lord.
